Yvonne A. Barker

Yvonne Barker (nee. Powell) born December 27th, 1946 in Richmond, VA, lived in Gardena and Torrance, CA, retired in West Allis, WI.  Loving sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Yvonne found peace Friday, April 9th, 2021 with her loving daughters Linda Rodriguez (nee Lish) and Jennifer Smith (nee Barker), son-in-law Louie Rodriguez and granddaughter Ashley Harrington (nee Lish) by her side.  Proceeded in death by parents James and Betty Powell (nee Glass), sisters Linda and Phyllis, and son David. Survived by sisters Kathy and Julie, daughters Linda and Jennifer, and many beloved grand and great grandchildren, relatives and friends. Yvonne was a hardworking woman who right after graduating from Carson High started her career at Douglas (later McDonnell Douglas then Boeing). Later Yvonne worked at Fairchild Fasteners (later Alcoa) as well as a leasing agent for Ogden & Co. Inc before retiring.   Yvonne was a proud member of the Torrance Women of the Moose, Chapter 44 for over 30 years. Yvonne held many offices from Secretary Treasurer to Senior Regent and created many fond memories as a member of the Women’s Ritual Team and working hard to earn her WOTM College degree.  A memorial will be held at the Torrance Moose Lodge once it is safe to gather again.  In lieu of flowers please donate to your local animal shelter of choice.  Milwaukee Humane Society – www.wihumane.org the memorial and donation page has more information if you are interested in donating in Yvonne’s name.
