SOUTH MILWAUKEE – William A. “Bill” Pung, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Bill was born on September 11, 1952 in Milwaukee, WI to Albert and Ione (Rasmussen) Pung. Bill grew up in South Milwaukee and graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1970. He studied Computer Science and Engineering at UWM and worked as a broadcast engineer at WUWM-FM while in school. The majority of his working career was with TAPCO, a traffic and parking control company. He served in a variety of roles throughout his career- installer, maintenance, trouble shooter and technical consultant for these systems. His most recent assignment before retiring, was at Milwaukee Mitchell Airport maintaining and installing their parking structure control and management systems. Bill loved music. He began with playing the sousaphone in Junior High and High School. He taught himself the guitar and spent many enjoyable hours jamming with his friends and occasionally performing at local events. He used his technical expertise to restore antique vacuum tube guitar amplifiers for fellow enthusiasts. He also loved cats and had two which he named One and Two! He is survived by his sister, Jessica Bashirian, nephew Aaron Bashirian, cousins John and Jack Shreffler and other cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Aunt Ivy Shreffler, Uncles Edward and Robert Pung, nephew Evan Bashirian, niece Katherine Esme’ Bashirian, cousin Bradley Shreffler and three very close friends. There will be a private burial at a later date in Mountain, WI.
