Wendy Joan Budzien

Wendy Budzien (nee Schultz) Age 69, passed into Eternal Life on March 15, 2025. She was surrounded by loving family. Devoted mother of Carrie Merickel (Jonathon) and Stacy Budzien (Matthew Ruckman). Loving grandmother of Addelyn and Nathan Merickel, and Erin, Breanne and Sean Ruckman. Dear sister of Brian (Jody) Schultz. Dearest niece of Karen (the late Tony) Jurik. Further survived by nieces, nephew, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Reynold (“Jim”) and Joan Schultz (nee Moroushek) and her brother Reynold Schultz.

Wendy was born on December 28, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up with a love for family, humor and creativity. She graduated from Bay View High School in 1974. After focusing on her family and raising two daughters, she later went to college to fulfill one of her life-long dreams. She graduated valedictorian of her class with an ‘Associate in Arts’ Degree from Bryant and Stratton College in 2000. She graduated magna cum laude with a ‘Bachelors Business Management’ Degree from Cardinal Stritch University in 2013. Her dedication to learning and personal growth was evident throughout her life.

Wendy cherished time spent with her loved ones and had a remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her. She had a passion for baking and cake decorating, often creating beautiful confections that delighted family and friends. Her talent extended to floral decorations, where she found joy in crafting arrangements that brightened any occasion. Above all, she loved making people laugh and treasured the moments shared with those closest to her.

Due to health issues, Wendy moved to Chicago in her final years to be near her daughters and their families, allowing her to spend more time with her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Faith Community (9520 W. Forest Home Ave, Hales Corners, WI) from 9:30am – 10:45am on Saturday, March 22nd. Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Liver Foundation.

Wendy’s warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
