Thomas A. Pope Sr.

March 31, 1940 — January 18, 2025

Our beloved Dad, Thomas A. Pope "Tom", passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 84. Tom was born in Milwaukee and lived his entire life in this area. He is predeceased by our Mom, Martha "Marty" M. Pope (nee Heun). They met on the 4th of July 1956, were high school sweethearts at Greendale High School (Class of '58), and lived and loved until her death in 2017. He never really got over the loss. We are happy he is slow dancing with her in heaven now.

Tom had a varied career. His first "real job" was working in assembly and test driving at Harley-Davidson. He then joined his father at Pope Engineering Company, a heating, air conditioning and refrigeration business. Tom later became a real estate broker and purchased and managed properties in the Milwaukee area. Tom and Marty’s retirement career was helping customers design and build homes with Lemel Homes. They also traveled many miles in their motor home, visiting family around the country and many national parks.

Tom loved restoring and driving classic cars, especially Thunderbird convertibles of the '50s and '60s. He often provided cars for holiday parades. He was an avid participant at the annual Iola Car Show. He rehabbed a number of homes over his lifetime and was an excellent carpenter, electrician, and all-round handy man.

Tom enjoyed riding motorcycles, particularly Harleys. He was proud that his motorcycle club shirts from the ‘50s as well as family "motorcycle sweaters" and historic photos are part of the collection at the Harley-Davidson Museum.

Tom was the son of Arthur G. Pope and E. Luella Pope. He and Marty had three children: Debra (Richard), Thomas Jr. (Patricia), and Robert (Kelly). He is loved and remembered by his grandchildren as well, William (Stacy), Katrina, Katherine and Eliza. He also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. God bless you Dad. Thanks for everything.
