Private interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Born February 23, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wis. to Casey and Louise Pionek (Holper), he attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and Don Bosco high school. His first year at Marquette University, he fell in love with his French tutor and so began their 54 years together. Precise, hardworking and smart, he parlayed a computing internship into a successful career in information systems, with stops along the way in construction and logging. He could wield a chainsaw or computer with equal aplomb. Nobody worked harder, but when the weekend came he could be found traipsing the woods, swamps and marshes of Wisconsin. Hatch Lake and "the forty" were his favorite escapes, and he eagerly shared them with others. A man for all seasons, he hunted and fished through life and served as a top-rate dog trainer and judge. Tom always stood up for the little guy. He liked a good joke and a good conversation with a good friend. Easygoing and affectionate, he was also tough as nails and a true fighter to the very end. "My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here, My heart's in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer; Chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe, My heart's in the Highlands, wherever I go." --Robert Burns
