Thomas J. Carney

June 7, 1925 — August 25, 2018

Carney, Thomas J. Passed peacefully on August 25, 2018 at the age of 93. Thomas resided at Forest Ridge Senior Community, was born in Kenosha and was a longtime resident of Greendale. Preceded in death by the love of his life, Genevieve (nee Kane) whom he was married to for 62 wonderful years. Loving father to Tom (Sheilah), Mark (the late Sandy) and Mary Beth (James) Mohoney. Survived by his sister Martha Piery (the late Lucien) and brother Raymond (the late Theresa). Preceded in death by his sister Mary Jane Edwards and brothers Richard (the late Vicky), Donald (the late Donna), Jimmy (the late Gladys) and Kevin (Shirley). Grandfather to Timothy, Nicholas (Tasha), Sean (Kathy), Courtney, Abigail (Kyle), Matthew (Britni) and Stuart (Brittany). Great Grandfather 5 times over and more on the way! Tom met Genevieve while enjoying one of his favorite past times, a round of golf at Petrifying Springs Golf Course in Kenosha. They married shortly thereafter. One of their greatest passions was to dance. He and Jean were often seen cutting a rug at the Blue Canary or the Heidel House in Green Lake. Tom and Jean also loved to travel- with the Gulf of Florida, Door County and Fox Lake being frequent destinations. Tom loved people and that allowed him to have a very successful career as a salesman. He loved fishing, baking his Russian Teacakes and his famous party mix, attending the Greendale Social Club (thank you Greendale Park and Recreation) reading (thank you Greendale Public Library), cheering on the Badgers, putting together puzzles, Wii Bowling and taking care of his beloved tomato plants at Forest Ridge. During his lifetime Tom was also known for his exceptional wood refinishing talent and handyman skills. We know the gentleman in Tom and the hugs that he loved to give, will leave great memories for his friends at the Greendale Social Club and his home at Forest Ridge Senior Community. We all miss you dad but we know your reunion with mom makes our tears turn to smiles. Dance the night away! Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, September 1st from 10:30-12:00 at the funeral home. Memorials appreciated to the Greendale Social Club (Greendale Park and Rec - 5647 Broad Street Greendale WI 53129) Huge thank you to the wonderful staff at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital and Horizon Hospice.
