Thomas Fernand Cassini was born on June 26, 1932 to Inez and Ernesto Cassini in Milwaukee, WI. He lived a long and productive life of 90 years, but on Saturday, October 9, 2022, our family lost their beloved husband, father, and grandpa.
Tom spent the last few days of his life the way he had spent many weekends and all holidays—surrounded by his loving family. He was married to Marianne for 67 years; they supported each other and together raised four children, Lisa Deau (Bill), Tom (Leila) Cassini, Joe (Susie) Cassini, and Andy (Terri) Cassini. He was a major presence in the lives of their eight grandchildren, Emily Vlaj (Jeremy), Megan Deau, Julia Dziatkiewicz (Sam), Thomas (Jenna) Cassini, Glenna Schwersenska (Wyatt), Sophia and Cooper Cassini, and his beloved grandson, the late David Cassini. He doted on his three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ellason Vlaj and Benson Schwersenska. If anyone had a special event they could be sure that dad/grandpa would be there proudly cheering them on.
Tom also liked to cheer for the Brewers, the Packers, and for his alma mater, the Marquette Golden Eagles. He graduated from Rufus King High School and went on to earn a degree from Marquette University. Soon after he was hired by General Motors and had a long career in personnel at AC Spark Plug, Oak Creek. It was a perfect fit because Tom was a "people person" who always had a smile on his face and time to chat.
Tom was an active member of St. Alphonsus Parish and was happy to serve as a lector and on various school and church committees. He was a member of the St.Vincent de Paul Society and also volunteered as an Outside Assessor for Alverno College.
Tom had many hobbies over the years like golf, woodworking, cooking and reading Clive Cussler novels but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family, especially at his cottage in Crandon, WI. Another favorite vacation spot was Hawaii where he and Marianne celebrated special anniversaries. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Tom was loved and will be forever remembered for his caring heart, sense of humor and beautiful smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Norma Anderson (Harvey) and Eleanor Brazzale (Frank) and sister-in-law Alverne Meyer (Eddie).
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Ascension Hospital Franklin for the compassionate care they gave Tom in his last days.
Visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (6060 W. Loomis Rd. Greendale, WI) on Friday October 21, 2022 from 9 - 10:45 AM with Funeral Mass to begin at 11 AM.
