Theresa S. Torner

August 31, 1931 — July 12, 2023

Theresa S. Torner, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2023, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on August 31, 1931, in northern Wisconsin, Theresa was the last surviving member of her family of nine siblings. She was a beacon of love, kindness, and generosity, illuminating the lives of all who knew her.

Theresa was the cherished wife of Donald M. Torner for an impressive 68 years. Their love story was one of enduring devotion and mutual respect. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children Sheryl (Dick) Wade, Gayle Mroczenski, Gary (Coleen) Torner, Mary (Karl) Dreher, and the late Jody (Joe) Bauer. Theresa's legacy lives on through her 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

Born and raised on a family farm in Wisconsin, Theresa graduated from Edgar High School. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family and community. Theresa was known for her culinary skills, particularly her peanut butter cookies and layered jello dishes, which were eagerly anticipated at family gatherings and parties. She also had a special place in her heart for all her grandchildren, whom she babysat with joy and pride. For many years Theresa worked as a part time cook in the public schools.

Theresa was a woman of faith and an active member of her church. She was passionate about helping to feed the poor and was devoted to the rosary. She was active with Roses for Our Lady and even helped form Rosary Evangelization Apostolate. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, and she lived it out through her actions, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear to those in need. Her generous spirit and loving nature touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on her community.

Theresa loved playing cards, attending parties, and spending time with her family. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of her delicious cooking. Above all, she cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she was their rock, always there with a comforting word, a warm hug, or a plate of her famous cookies.
