Theodore M. Uribe “Ted” passed away on December 29, 2024. Diagnosed with cancer in 2022, he chose to live with his daughter, Julie. Unfortunately, it was his battle with congestive heart disease that ultimately took him before his time. Ted's vast family members and multitude of friends are grieving his absence. His Children, his Grandchildren, his Great Grandchildren, and his Great-Great Grandchildren will forever hold him in their hearts.
Ted grew up as the youngest of ten children in San Antonio, Texas. After serving as a medic in the Air Force, he started a family. Captivated by Wisconsin, he settled in West Allis to raise his children. Ted worked for Allis Chalmers for many years before founding Esperanza Unida, an organization dedicated to helping young men learn a trade.
Ted became a cornerstone of Milwaukee, especially known for his dedication to supporting young men. After earning his degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, he founded "Wisconsin Injured Workers," a business that became one of his significant pillars. Through this venture, he assisted hundreds of injured individuals, many of whom continue to appreciate his efforts and mourn his passing.
Recognized and respected as a leader, Ted's influence extended beyond the Hispanic community to the entire Milwaukee community, including figures like the Mayors, Common Council members, and Aldermen. Throughout his life, Ted tirelessly fought for justice for himself and others.
Ted was incredibly charismatic, radiating good ethics and morals. His infectious humor always had people laughing. He delighted in traveling, fishing, boating, fairs, and especially cherished the Milwaukee Lakefront. Ted devoted time to visiting prisons, aiding in the rehabilitation of inmates. He believed in resilience and encouraged others to stay strong and persist. Ted's legacy is a call to help as many people as possible.
There will be no memorial services. His wish is to be remembered as a strong and hard-working man who made a lasting impact on people's lives and on the city of Milwaukee, a fact of which many are well aware.
