Susan "Sue" Polzin

July 27, 1955 — February 10, 2024

Susan Mary Polzin, known affectionately as Sue to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on February 10, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on July 27, 1955, in Wisconsin, she was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Sue's journey began in Wisconsin, where her early years were spent surrounded by the love and camaraderie of her family. Beloved daughter of Ron and Dawn Schill and a cherished sister to Taylor, the late Steven, Scott (Theresa), the late Catherine (Pat), Mary (Mike), Carol (Christopher), and Drew. Her life was enriched by the bonds she shared with her aunts, uncles, and many nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.

Her academic pursuits were a testament to her determination and passion for education. Sue was a graduate of Muskego High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her thirst for knowledge and self-improvement didn't stop there; she furthered her education by obtaining a Master's degree from Marian University.

Professionally, Sue dedicated 20 years of her life to the students at Greendale Elementary Schools as a Special Education teacher, where her patience and kindness touched the lives of countless students. Her love for cooking led her to serve as a personal cook for the Jesuits or as she liked to call them “the Fathers”, a role she considered more of a passion than employment. She also shared her culinary interest by teaching summer cooking classes to children, inspiring others with her skills and enthusiasm.

Sue's personal life was filled with the joy and challenges of raising her beloved children Timothy (Rachel), Dawn, and Rory (Holly) as a single mother while pursuing her education, graduating with honors. As a grandmother, she cherished every moment with her grandchildren Blake, Chloe, Alaina, Samuel, Sasha, and Geneva, providing unwavering support and love.

Her marriage to Michael Polzin was a partnership that flourished over 30 years, filled with mutual respect, devotion, and countless shared memories. Together, they navigated life's ups and downs, always finding strength in each other.

Sue's interests were a reflection of her vibrant spirit. She was an avid cribbage player, a creative crafter, and a dedicated gardener. Her love for the outdoors was evident in the time she spent at the family farmhouse up north, a place of serenity and joy for her.

Loving, selfless, and creative are the words that best describe Sue. She had an innate ability to nurture and care for those around her, often putting the needs of others before her own. Her creative talents brought beauty into the world, whether through her crafts, her garden, or the delicious meals she prepared with love.

Her legacy is one of love, education, and selfless service. Sue's memory will live on through the lives she touched, the students she inspired, and the family she adored. She leaves behind a world made better by her presence, and a void that will be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Susan Mary Polzin's life was a testament to the power of love and the enduring strength of the human spirit. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue to shine through the generations, and her memory will be cherished forever. Sue's journey on earth may have come to a close, but the impact of her life's work and the love she shared will resonate for eternity.
