Susan Ohlis, age 83, passed away on January 18, 2018. She was born in1934 to Mary Louise and Kent Ohlis in La Porte, Indiana. She is survived by 1 brother, Kent (Sharon) Ohlis of Waukesha; nephew Kent Ohlis of Baltimore, nieces Christine Ohlis of West Bend and Kathleen (Christopher) Meinecke of Germantown; great-nieces, Megan Ohlis and Kirby Meinecke, great-nephews Jacob Ohlis and Cooper Meinecke. Sue grew up in Madison and attended Edgewood College to obtain her teaching degree. She was always a tried and true Badger fan, holding season football tickets for many years. Sue started her teaching career in Madison and taught over 30 years in Wisconsin, mostly in the Greenfield School District. In 1986, Sue was named Teacher of the Year in the Greenfield School District and was well loved by staff and students. Sue enjoyed exploring and traveled extensively with family and friends. She enjoyed the arts and attended the theater regularly. Sue was an avid golfer, bridge player, and baker. Her sugar cookies were amazing! She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church. A visitation will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 27 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 7255 W Grange Ave., Greendale, WI, 53129. A service will follow at 11:00am. Any memorials can be made in memory of Susan Ohlis to her church, St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church. Susan will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, Indiana next to her loving parents, Mary Louise and Kent.
