Susan Marlene Erickson (Golon), 63, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2022 surrounded by her children. Susan was born on April 18, 1959 to Marlene Mather and the late Richard Erickson. She married her high school sweetheart, Randall Golon on August 21, 1982 and resided in Muskego, WI where they started a family of two children, Justin and Stephanie.
Following her husband’s passing, she and her children moved to Stevens Point where she started her second career as an educational assistant in the Stevens Point School District. She retired at the end of 2021 after serving 15+ years. In January 2022, life threw her another curveball. Susan was diagnosed with advanced metastatic triple negative breast cancer.
Throughout her entire life, Susan was consistently complimented on her elegance – she was always dressed for the occasion, even to her weekly chemotherapy treatments. She absolutely flourished in her artistic and creative abilities. Susan loved the game of bowling, but most of all, she lived for her children and grandchildren.
Those who knew Susan, knew she was a fighter. As her battle with cancer got tougher, she continued fighting without any hesitation. Unfortunately, complications and an additional illness ended her battle 9 months in.
Susan is survived by her two children: Justin (Crystal) Golon of Plover and Stephanie (Luke) Engebretson of Port Washington. She is further survived by two grandchildren: Josslyn and Randall Golon, her four siblings: Randy (Nancy) Erickson, Bob Erickson, Cindy Erickson and Sandy (Mike) Schoba, her mother Marlene (Tom) Mather, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband Randall, her brother Ronald and her father Richard. Special shoutout to Aspirus Stevens Point hospital for accommodating numerous visitors and keeping her comfortable during her final days.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00PM on Saturday, October 1st at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home in Muskego (W173S7629 Westwood Drive). A ceremonial service will immediately follow at 3 PM. At a later date, burial services will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee, where she will be reunited with her husband in their final, joint resting place. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.
