The world, and our family, lost one of the most genuine, kind-hearted, and creative guys ever when Steve Gutschow passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. Steve is survived by his wife Cynthia Gutschow, daughters Adrianna and Samantha, and granddaughter Isabella, along with his siblings Laura (Otto) Novakovics, Kay (Rich) Stimer, Roy (Cheryl) Gutschow, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who loved him dearly. Whether you knew him as 'Sheebs', ' Super G’, ‘the Gooch’, ‘Uncle Goofy’, or simply ‘bro’, those that had the pleasure to call him any of these will forever cherish his memory. Steve lived his life with passion and wonder. He found beauty and peace in nature, was an avid fisherman, archer, and an early adopter of disc golf. Steve was THE idea man, constantly designing new inventions, sharing his hilarious T-shirt ideas, as well as creating and gifting his amazing woodcrafts. Steve gave of himself freely and was always available to those around him. Steve was a devoted, hands-on father and grandfather to his girls. He was a natural role model for boys and young men too and was generous with his time and experiences if he could help even a little. He was the favorite uncle to many, many kids, and taught so many of us how to shoot a bow, throw a disc, and cast a line for the first time. It wouldn’t be a family function without Steve running around with the kids and teaching them his invented games (Ace Race?!). He truly lived in-the-moment, and his warmth and empathy made him a beloved friend and relative to all. Steve’s one-of-a-kind sense of humor will be deeply missed. He lit up many a room with his jokes, bad puns, and “Tony Montana” impressions. His clap was epic, his speeches were memorable, and he could always be counted on to lighten the mood and keep us smiling. Steve was gifted at reading people’s energies, and never let anyone feel left out. Steve truly valued his family and the preciousness of our time on earth. He was often the one to encourage his loved ones to end disagreements quickly and had words of wisdom to share for almost any situation. We will miss Steve so much, because he taught us so much...just by being authentically himself. “Stay cool.” It’s what Steve would have wanted. Celebration of life will be held at Ray & Dots 6351 W Grange Ave. Greendale, on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a 4:30 PM time of sharing.
