Stephen “Steve” Czisz, aged 74, passed away peacefully from natural causes on April 17, 2024, in Greenfield, WI, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on March 22, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI, Steve was a man of unwavering integrity, a loving family man, and a proud American.
Steve grew up in Milwaukee and was a 1968 graduate of Whitnall High School. After graduation, he dedicated 34 years of his life working as a machine operator at Briggs and Stratton. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his dedication to his family and his love for his country.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Jo Czisz; his loving daughter Angie Edwards and son-in-law Gregg; his cherished granddaughters, Samantha and Grace Edwards; and his caring sisters, Kathy Ferguson (Tom) and Terry Kolp (Bob). Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Dorothy (nee Hildebrandt) Czisz, who instilled in him the values of hard work and devotion to family.
Steve was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in watching old movies and TV shows, reminiscing about the golden days of cinema. His daily routine included visits to the gym, where he not only kept himself fit but also formed lasting friendships. His unwavering faith led him to attend church regularly, where he found solace and community.
Above all, Steve's greatest pride was in being a grandfather, or as he liked to say, “the BEST Grandpa there could be.” His granddaughters brought immeasurable joy to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Whether he was attending their school events, teaching them life lessons, or simply sharing in laughter, those moments were the highlights of his days.
Steve's love for his country was profound. He believed in the American dream and lived his life as a testament to that ideal. His patriotism was quiet but deep, a thread that ran through every aspect of his life.
In the words of Helen Keller, a quote that Steve often shared, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched-they must be felt with the heart.” Steve felt every moment with his heart, and in turn, touched the hearts of all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Steve, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, love, and a deep sense of responsibility. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the lives of his family, who will carry forward his teachings and his love.
Steve's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, hard work, and commitment to one's beliefs. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to provide comfort and joy to his family and friends.
Visitation at the Max A. Sass & Sons Greenridge Chapel on Friday, May 10 from 11 AM – 1 PM. Memorial Service at 1 PM.
Steve's life story is one of dedication and love-a narrative that will be recounted for generations to come. May he rest in peace, knowing that he left this world better than he found it.
