Kulpa, Stephen F., Lt. Col/USAR Ret. Stephen Kulpa entered into eternal life on October 7, 2014 at the age of 98. He is survived by 2 nephews Edward (Dolores) and Dennis (Diane), 2 nieces Karen Jablonski and Barbara (Carl) Thiel, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Steve is also survived by his lifelong friend and "his angel", Gabrielle Hajewski. Preceded in death by parents Frank and Maryanna, sister Helen, brothers Stanley (Helen), Joseph (Sally), Theodore (Genevieve), Zenon (Blanche) and Walter, niece Dr. Carol Kulpa and 4 nephews Richard (Betty), Joseph (Dorothy), Zenon (Mary) and Robert. Steve attended St. Cyril School/St. Alexander's Elementary School and Boy's Tech. He loved singing and was in choirs. He served his country during World War II in the army as a Buck Private/Captain and was deployed to Australia, New Guinea and the Philippines. Upon his return home, he enlisted in the Army Reserves and became a Lieutenant Colonel. He was an active life-time member of ROA, Chapter 23. Steve graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Mechanical Engineer. After graduation, Steve was hired and worked 30+ years at Kearney and Trecker where he retired from. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the birds, squirrels and chipmunks that he fed on a daily basis. Special thank you to Dr. Port and staff, Kara, Patti (VNA) and Zilber Hospice for their wonderful care and support, and Jamie (RN) for the excellent overnight care she provided for Steve. Visitation on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the MAX A. SASS & SONS FUNERAL HOME from 4pm to 8pm with a 6pm prayer service. Funeral Services from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 9:30am to ST. JOHN PAUL II PARISH St. Alexander Church (1568 W. Holt Ave.) for the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am.
