Her early years were filled with the love and support of her family, and she carried that foundation of love throughout her life. Sonja's career as a bank teller at People's Credit Union where she formed many friendships and genuine care for the community members she served. Her colleagues remember her as a beacon of positivity in the workplace.
In the company of her beloved husband of 45 years, Bob Malkowski, Sonja found her true partner in life. Together, they built a home filled with laughter and kindness. Their love was a testament to commitment and mutual respect, and it was further blessed with the birth of their son, Steve, who, along with his wife Stephanie, gave Sonja the cherished role of grandmother to Jackson and Lola. Sonja's brother, Dean (Mary) Pelkey, her niece Angie (Scott) Borchardt, and the rest of her extended family, will miss her deeply.
A woman of many passions, Sonja was renowned for her exceptional baking and candy-making skills. Her sweet tooth was legendary, and she delighted in sharing her creations with friends and family. An avid fan of her grandkid’s sports, Sonja never missed a game and her enthusiasm was infectious. She was also an enthusiastic line dancer at Pat’s Oak, a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Milkmen play ball.
Sonja's grandchildren, Jackson and Lola, were the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was baking, playing a game of war, cheering them on at their sporting events or just enjoying their company. She also enjoyed swimming and reading. Sonja's annual trip to the state fair for a cream puff was a tradition she looked forward to every year, a simple pleasure that brought her immense joy.
