Sigmund F. Greevers

March 26, 1922 — August 29, 2011

Of Thomasboro, passed away at Provena Covenant Medical Center on August 29, 2011, age 89. He was born March 26, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, son of the late Frank and Helen Greevers. He married Florence Baldewicz on August 31, 1946, at St. Adalbert Church, Milwaukee. She preceded him in death March 26, 2008. He is survived by his children, James (Pauline) Greevers of West Allis, David Greevers of Milwaukee, Marjorie (Michael) Johnson of Thomasboro, and Carol (Thomas) Duncan of Reno; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his sisters Dorothy Lineal of San Marcos, CA, and Irene Baldewicz of Milwaukee and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by three sisters JoAnn, Delores, and Marian and a daughter-in-law Barbara. Sigmund began his military career in the United States Army in 1942. In 1945, he joined the United States Air Force and retired in 1974 as a Chief Master Sergeant. He served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam and received numerous citations and commendations including a Bronze Star in 1969. His military career included isolated tours of duty in England, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. In addition, he moved with his family and served in eight different states. He was an avid fisherman and bowler. He enjoyed working outside, tending his garden, cooking and celebrating holidays with his family. He also enjoyed polka music, dancing, and playing the concertina. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, from 11AM to 1PM at the Funeral Home with military honors to follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery.
