Shirley A Sowa

Shirley Agnes Sowa, 66, died peacefully on June 21, 2012, at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI. Diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in spring of 2008, she joyously outlived her limited prognosis to the delight of everyone who knew and loved her. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Chris and Martha (Wilhelm) Sowa, sister Marilyn (Sowa) Danko and niece Deanna Danko. She is survived by sisters Jeanette Sowa, Carmen (Jerry) Dobbs and Nancy Sowa; nieces Carol (Edward) Helgesen, Marilyn (John Marszal) Bazinski, Christy (David) Mackley), nephew Darren (Christine) Danko, treasured great-nieces and nephews, cousins, special friend Gordon Ozminkowski and many other dear friends. Prior to retiring from Master Lock Company after 19 years, she was employed by Inland Steel Company and Harley Davidson. Shirley enjoyed playing piano, harmonica, tennis, backgammon and Scrabble, working word and number puzzles, hiking, camping, sewing, taking art classes, doing volunteer work and spending time with family and friends. Visitation at the funeral home Sunday, June 24, 4-6pm, with a vigil service at 6pm. On Monday, June 25, brief visitation at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3722 S. 58th St., Milwaukee, from 9:30-10am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
