Shields Patrick "Pat" Baker, P.E. was welcomed into Eternal Life on September 9, 2008. He was the loving husband of Martha Baker for 71 wonderful years. Together they raised five sons: Ronald, William, Charles, Richard and James. His love, kindness, generosity and keen intellect will live on through their thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Born in Hancock, Michigan in 1917, and with Martha at his side, he overcame the Great Depression to become one of the country's most respected engineers. His brilliance helped make possible the Norton bomb sight in World War II, the birth of computers in the 1950's, and the manned space flights in the 1960's. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him, lending a helping hand to those who needed it, and taking quiet pride in seeing them succeed. Shields presence on earth will be dearly missed, but we take solace in knowing that he will be a part of God's Eternal Kingdom. Visitation at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL Friday September 12, 2008 from 9AM until time of services at 11AM. Interment Arlington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
