Sharon C. Schmitz
Sharon found peace surrounded by her family on November 26, 2022. Survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, John Schmitz. Loving mother to Paul, William (Katie), and Julie (Jesse) Carlton. Adoring nana to John, Emma, Alex, and Tyler. Devoted daughter of Flora Magestro. Dear sister to James Magestro, Angela (Robert) Van Hecke, and Marietta Hueneke. Treasured friend of Joan Wolffersdorff and Jan Beckman. Further survived by her nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Frank Magestro, her brother-in-law Ronald Hueneke, her faithful companion Bruno, and many loving relatives.
Sharon worked for nearly 25 years with Quarles & Brady Law Firm, and she was always a source of strength, intellect, and compassion even when faced with her own challenges. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and endlessly devoted to her family. Sharon lived for her children and grandchildren, and she took great joy in spending time with her family. She loved her foot rubs, sitting down with several good books, going on trips to the Beau Rivage, and sharing jokes. Sharon was a true "mama bear" who knew how to take charge and get things done, but she also had a generous heart, and all were welcome in her home. She brought laughter, light, and energy to all those around her.
Above all, Sharon was a woman of deep faith who lived her values and encouraged people to be good to each other. Our mother was our hero, and even though her body is gone, her legacy lives on in all the people she helped and the lives she touched.
Warmest thanks to all the doctors, nurses, aides and other staff at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center for the care they provided. If you wish to honor Sharon's life, please consider a donation to one of her favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church (6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale) on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 9:30-10:45AM. Memorial Mass to follow at 11AM. A private interment will take place on a later date.
