Sharon A. Brumer

March 4, 1953 — October 18, 2024

Sharon Brumer entered eternal life on Friday, October 18, 2024, due to heart complications. She was born on March 4, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1971 and graduated with honors from Alverno College in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts, Professional Communications Degree with Emphasis on Writing. She published poetry while at Alverno and participated in school plays in high school and college.

Sharon worked for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee for over 20 years, retiring in 2019 from her position as Parish Relations Coordinator working with Archbishop Timothy Dolan as well as Archbishop Jerome E. Listecki. She wrote the Annual Report for Catholic Charities in 2016 which can be found online. Sharon very lovingly gave over 40 years of volunteer and ministry work to her home parish. She belonged to St. Alphonsus Parish for 24 years where she was a Confirmation Facilitator, leading groups of teenagers and sharing her faith with them. Then she attended St. Charles Borromeo Parish for 20 years where she served as a parishioner representative and a Choir member and Cantor who sang psalms and led the congregation in worship through song. She was presently a member of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents John and Cecelia Brumer, brother John Brumer Jr. (Kathy) of Iowa, brother-in-law Dennis Kling, brother-in-law Robert Schellhaass, niece Clarice Drewek, and great nephew baby James Brumer. Surviving siblings are Beverly Schellhaass of Plymouth; Michael (Connie) Brumer of Antigo; Barbara Bourn of Nashotah; Beatrice (Frank) Skvarca of Racine; Laura Brumer of Greenfield; and Charles (Sabine) Brumer of Plymouth. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and a wealth of friends.

Sharon had a large personality with an even bigger heart. She loved spending time with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, teaching them card games, board games, and silly songs from her childhood, instilling in them a sense of humor with much laughter.

Since graduating from Washington High School, Sharon and a group of high school friends have continued to meet monthly, enriching each other's lives with laughter, fellowship, support, and lively conversation.

Sharon's life was a testament to the virtues of love, generosity, and kindness. Her life was filled with tremendous passion and joyful service to others. She devoted her life to the care and nurturing of her faith and family. Her departure leaves an unfillable void in our lives but the fun and sweet times we shared will always warm our hearts. She had that special ability to bring joy to those around her with her tremendous heart, faith, and loving ways. Her zest for life, her laughter, and her unconditional love for all of us will be dearly missed.

Celebration of Sharon's life will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (8500 W. Cold Spring Road, Greenfield, Wisconsin) from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.
