Sardar Kuldip Singh passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021. He died peacefully with his beloved wife Mohinder and their four children by his side. Kuldip Singh was born in Myitkyina, Burma to father Barkhat Singh and mother Maya Vanti. The second youngest of 9 children he was very close to his family, many who still live in Burma. He was a civil engineer with a very strong work ethic and the desire to take care of his family which led him to move with them to the United States in the early 1980s to pursue better opportunities and education for his children. He believed in the American dream and was so proud to become a citizen of a country where you had the opportunity to succeed no matter who you were or where you came from. But also stood strong against any discrimination he or others faced as a result of their ethnicity or faith, advocating for social justice and equity. Kuldip was a devout follower of the Sikh faith and also served a term as President of the Milwaukee Sikh Temple. He was a strong proponent of community service – sewa - and contributed actively in each of the communities he lived in, always welcoming newcomers with dinners at home and taking part in the grief and joy of everyone he knew. Overall, he remained grateful for everything he had in his life until his final days, recognizing how fortunate he was. We celebrate the remarkable life Kuldip Singh lived and are grateful to have been a part of his journey.
