Sandra Josephine (Eisler) Otto, 86, of Milwaukee, was born to eternal life on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022. She was born on Nov 18, 1935, the daughter of LaVean and Milton Eisler and lived in or near the Milwaukee area most of her life until she and her husband retired to Fox Lake, WI in 2002 and then returned to Franklin, WI in 2021.
When Sandra was a child she loved school, comic book time with her grandmother and going to baseball games with her father. He purchased tickets for them to attend games at what would be the brand new County Stadium scheduled to open on April 6, 1953. Sadly, her father passed away at the age of 46 on April 8, 1953 before they were able to attend.
Sandra met her future husband, Robert Otto when they were kids living in the same neighborhood. Bob loved Sandy’s shiny Schwinn bicycle. Their romance was born the moment Sandy offered to let Bob take a ride.
Sandra and Bob were married on June 27, 1953 just 10 days after she graduated from Bay View High School on June 17, 1953. Sandra was 17, Bob was 19. A little more than one year later Sandra had her first child and their family began to grow in love. Two more children blessed their lives. She was a beloved mother to Don, Gerry and Karen.
Following her graduation from high school Sandra worked as a swim teacher, lunch lady and busy wife/ mom. She then decided to pursue her dream of attending nursing school. She graduated in 1971 as a licensed practical nurse and worked in a variety of healthcare sittings including labor and delivery and the ER at what was then Trinity Memorial Hospital. She next moved into industrial nursing and worked at Ladish, George Meyer and Amron. Following her retirement from industrial nursing she continued to serve others by working in several skilled nursing facilities.
Sandra was a very proud grandmother to Anna Otto and Jenny Zima. She loved “her girls” and enjoyed taking them on trips to the zoo and the Wisconsin Dells as well as having Grandma time with them at her Fox Lake home. She always made time to attend musicals, dance recitals, sporting events, birthdays and Easter egg hunts with them.
Sandra enjoyed a full and adventurous life. She was the first and lone female polar bear to take the plunge with 11 others back on 01/01/1960. She loved to swim and spent many hours at the public natatorium on 10th and Hayes. She was so proud of all her little swimmers, but took particular pride in one little boy who grew up to be a state champion!
Sandra loved to gamble, and was extremely lucky. Some of her best times were spent on bingo and casino trips with her husband and horse racing trips with her son Gerry. On a 1991 trip to visit friends in California, Sandra attended a taping of The Price Is Right. Chosen as a contestant, Sandra made it to the showcase, spinning the big wheel and bringing home some amazing prizes.
She loved animals, especially owls and koala bears. Sandra was an avid scrapbooker and looked forward to going on yearly scrapbook retreats with her daughter Karen and friends. She was a very social person and was always willing to help people. Sandra also loved birthdays, margaritas, bloody marys and any time spent with family. But most of all she loved her soul mate, Bob.
