Sandra J. Jenkins passed away Thursday January 5th, 2017 at West Allis Memorial Hospital, after a battle with lung disease complicated by Post-Polio Syndrome. Sandi is a retired Veteran of the US Army achieving the rank of SFC. The majority of her 25 years of military service was with the 84th Div. U.S. Army Reserve with several years of active service as a Recruiter. During her career and well into retirement, Sandi was active in military and veterans organizations including past President of AUSA, Secretary of the Milwaukee County Veterans' Board of Directors and Secretary-Treasurer of the Milwaukee Metro NCO Council. In her spare time, she served on the City of Milwaukee Veterans' Day and Memorial Day Parade committees, and marched in many events with the Milwaukee NCO Council's five service color guard. Sandi was well known for providing flag etiquette education to businesses and organizations in southeast Wisconsin that inadvertently displayed the American Flag in an improper manner. Many nicknames were associated with this passion. www.americanflagfoundation.org In her civilian career, she became a Certified Professional Secretary in 1975 and was employed as an office manager for Accounting and Law firms in the Milwaukee area for most of her career. Sandi is survived by son Theodore Jenkins and daughter in law Sarah Kretchmar; four beloved step-grandchildren; life-long best friend MaryAnn "Dolly" Bokan; and numerous dear friends within the Wisconsin Military and Veterans organizations. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Leonard Schaefer. The memorial service with military honor guard is being planned for early March, 2017.
