Salvatore C. "Sam" Santoro, Sr.

April 16, 1933 — October 22, 2019

Santoro, Salvatore C. Sr. “Sam” Died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on October 22, 2019 at the age of 86 and is now reunited with his beloved wife of 62 years, Judith (nee Diciaula). Preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Hartmann. Loving father of Salvatore “Sam Jr.” (Kathy), Nick (Sandy), Jeanne (Clarence) Hartmann, Carl (Joy), Steve (Claudette), Vincent (Lisa). Cherished grandpa of Angela (Michael), Michael, Antonio (Sarah), John (Nikki), Mark (Jenny), Dayna (Patrick), Kristin (Franco), Ashley (Josh), Ryan, Andrew, Stephanie (Matt), Chelsea, Alyssa and Gianna. Cherished great-grandfather of Izabella, Daylanna, Patrick, Colton, Aidan, Bria, Giavanna, Dayton, Giovanni, Liam, Easton, Sofia, Annalise, Cicilia and Mila. Sam cherished his large family having been an only child. Further survived by many dear family members and friends, especially the Hinkleys, Reikowskis, Smiths and his adopted family the Dargas/Dargos. Sam retired from Allis Chalmers as a Mechanical Draftsman, served as Treasurer of the Mitchell Park 4th of July Association for over 50 years and was the creator and longtime director of the Ethnic Food Festival at St. Matthews Catholic Church (Prince of Peace) which he ran for many years. Visitation Monday, October 28 from 10 AM until time of Memorial Mass at 2 PM at St. James Catholic Church, 7219 S. 27th Street, Franklin. Private Interment at Mt. Olivet. A special thank you to Dr. Rubina Qamar, Dr. Daniel Nordin, Gail Robinson and the Aurora Home Hospice Team (Terri, Jill, Gerry, Chaplin Tim and Cindy) for their loving care.
