Ruth Margaret Sommer (Becker) died peacefully on September 20, 2023, two days prior of her 87th birthday.
Wife of the late William Sommer. Survived by sons Scott (Georgene) and T.J. (Anne), grandchildren Erica Rasmussen (Greg), Will (Kayla), Lukas, and Sophia, and great granddaughter, Norah.
Born on September 22, 1936, and raised on the near north side of Milwaukee to Joseph and Edna Freida (Pape) Becker, with a whopping 15 siblings. She used her super talents to serve many charitable organizations and volunteering at community resale shops. Ruth took in over 20 young ladies seeking refuge and care during the time of their pregnancy. She enjoyed playing tennis, fishing, and being a hands-on house flipper, and could have easily earned a starring role in today’s DIY network.
The three men in her life would take on entrepreneurial journeys, and her amazing work ethic would help take dreams into reality. During SoLu's harvest season, you could find Ruth in the vines encouraging the pickers to pick every grape. At Old Germantown she would help wherever needed, stressing uncompromising attention to quality.
Ruth and her late husband Bill lived life to the fullest. Their cabin in Alaska became a very special place and they were a treasured part of the community. She leaves behind family and friends who are thankful for her constant encouragement and support.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 16, 5-7:30 pm at Old Germantown, W148N12696 Pleasant View Dr., Germantown, WI.
