Russell George Shomperlen

Russell George Shomperlen, 79, of Greenfield, entered into Eternal Life on September 1, 2023. He was born June 6, 1944, to the late George and Mollie Shomperlen.

Russ, a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay (Kathryn Eichman), daughter Jill Matel (Dan Osborn), son Josef (Jamie) Shomperlen and granddaughters Della and Matilda Shomperlen. He was preceded in death by his son Jon Russell Shomperlen in 1978, sisters Sue Leather and Mary Lynn (Robert) Geniusz, and sister-in-law Janice (Raymond) Bell; he is survived by sisters Laura (James) Mabel and Nancy Boyes, sister-in-law Marian (Robert) Smith and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Canada, Russ moved to Glendale at the age of 16 and graduated from Nicolet High School before attending Marquette University to earn a degree in Engineering. Russ and Kay married in 1969 and raised their family in Greenfield. Russ traveled the world for his job first with The Falk Corporation, then Bucyrus-Erie and finally P & H as a Chief Engineer – Gear Technology and loved to share stories of his adventures with everyone he met.

Visitation will be held at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL (4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield) on Friday, September 8, 2023, from 5:00 PM until the 7:00 PM Rosary Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST CATHOLIC CHURCH (8500 W Cold Spring Rd, Greenfield) on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Milwaukee on a later date.
