He was a devoted father to his daughters, whom he adored and shared countless adventures with from camping, and skiing to fishing and kayaking. Roy was immensely proud of his girl’s kindness, positivity, determination, and drive. They share an unbreakable bond from their love of soccer to embracing happiness in life.
Roy’s heart found love again with Heather Turner Loth. Together they embraced each day with joy and gratitude, sharing a mutual love for each other, hiking, traveling, lake life, coffee, and endless conversations.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen and Roy Glass and Evelyn and Ambrose Pionkowski, whose memories he held close to his heart.
In his childhood, Roy was an adorable, energetic, carefree soul with an early gravitation to the outdoors and sports. He loved family trips out west and holiday traditions with his family. He was a talented athlete, active in many sports including basketball, golf, baseball, and most of all soccer. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1993 and went on to UW-Parkside under a soccer scholarship where his success as an athlete continued. He was inducted into the UW-Parkside Men’s Soccer Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012, a proud moment that reflected his commitment to excellence, dedication, and teamwork.
Roy’s life signified his unwavering commitment to family, the pursuit of one’s passion, and the importance of leaving a positive impact on the world. He had a zest for life and an adventurous heart. His generosity was evident to all who knew him, and his passion to live a full life with no regrets was contagious. Whether it was hiking through uncharted trails, traveling to new destinations, or simply enjoying the tranquility of being on the water, Roy embraced life’s simple pleasures.
Roy’s laughter, warm embrace, and enduring passion for life will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In the quiet moments, of each sunrise and sunset, we will remember Roy.
