Ronald R. Torgerson

Ronald “Ron” R Torgerson, a loving father and grandfather, passed away on January 3, 2025, at the age of 77. He is survived by his children, Joel (Melissa) Torgerson and Rachel (Oscar) Koebel as well as 3 grandchildren - Maya, Will, and Violet.

Born in Brainerd, Minnesota, on June 12, 1947, Ron was the only son of Russell and Margaret Torgerson. His family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in the 1950s, and Ron went on to graduate from Pulaski High School in 1965. 

After high school, Ron poured his interests in math and design into his career as a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker. He used his strong mechanical aptitude and detail-oriented skills to become exceptional at his work, spending many years at Rexnord and Ladish.

Throughout his life, Ron maintained a passion for reading and learning about history, languages, and science. His extensive and diverse book collection is a testament to his eagerness to expand his knowledge and explore new ideas. Ron also loved to watch old television shows; his collection of DVDs of shows from his younger days is remarkable. 

Ron found peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of life; he enjoyed being outside with friends and family. He loved animals and was always pleased when someone brought their dog to visit. 

Ron spent countless hours with his children working on projects in their houses over the last 25 years; he was willing to take on almost any task with them to help improve their homes, and he was knowledgeable about almost any trade. Ron was always pleased when the work day ended with a meal with his family.

In more recent years, his role as grandfather became his favorite. He fostered unique relationships with each of his 3 grandchildren, taking time to discover their individual talents and interests and spending time with them helping to grow those interests. They will remember Ron as warm, loving, and patient.

Ron's kindness, his gift as a good listener, and his unwavering support for those he loved created lasting impressions on all who had the privilege to know him. While he is mourned deeply, the memories of his laughter, gentle guidance, and enduring love will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Ron. Your spirit will live on in the stories shared and the love you instilled in those around you.

Visitation Wednesday January 22, 2025 from 1-3 pm with a service at 3 pm at the Max A. Sass & Sons South Shore Chapel.  

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center for the amazing care given to Ron.
