Passed away on Monday, May 27th, at the age of 91, to join his beloved wife, Mary Jane, in heaven.
At a young age, he found his love for travel while visiting his father, a career military man who was stationed in various places across the globe, including Seattle and Korea. Robert followed in his footsteps and joined the military, serving his country during the peacekeeping time in Korea following the war.
Robert was an avid sports fan and participated in basketball, track, and golf in his younger years. He was a star athlete in high school, including first team all city conference in basketball as well as placing top three in the broad jump at State. He enjoyed playing golf throughout his life, beginning as a teenager and continuing well into his adult years, including being a part of the Ladish golf league. He would go on to instill a love of sports in his children.
Robert often spoke of his time at Ladish, beginning as a draftsman and working his way up to become a VP. He worked there for more than 38 plus years, where he developed lifelong friendships with many of his colleagues.
He met his wife through mutual friends at a neighborhood picnic in 1960. They were married in 1961 and enjoyed nearly 62 years of marriage together where they traveled the US and the world. He was the supportive father of three children who he raised in Greendale, Wisconsin, and the loving grandfather to his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hertz, two sisters, Barbara and June, and parents, Peg and Clyde. He is survived by his three children, Jean (John) Juds, Michael Hertz, and Phil (Bridgette) Hertz; as well as his grandchildren: Brandon Juds, Samantha Rebholz-Hertz, Kayla Juds, Allison Hertz, Marissa Hertz, Jason (Callie) Juds, Ashley (Jason) Lent. He will be dearly missed, loved, and remembered fondly.
A visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus in Greendale, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am and will be promptly followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 am to celebrate his memory.
