He was also a respected real estate owner and quiet philanthropist. He was always on the go and will be missed by many. Funeral services have been held. His request was that people use this time and opportunity to pay it forward and do a kind deed for others. Robert was a self-made man from very humble beginnings. Robert represented a very unique and rare kind of self-discipline and he excelled at whatever he put his mind out to do. Robert was, "The Thinker", never without a brilliant idea which he so powerfully executed into a reality that touched so many in so many powerful and positive ways. Robert was a man of great accomplishment who never sat back and let things happen, he went out and happened to things! He earned his living in doing what he loved until the very day of his passing. He constantly launched new ideas, thought big, reached out and aimed high. He truly was a visionary. He had qualities in being powerful, but tender, as well as simple, but complex and even had a sense of humor that brought out a bold funny side. In life when a problem arose for anyone, whether it be a family member, friend, business associate or stranger, his reply would be "let me see what I can do" and he always followed thru with such genuine efforts. His advice was a guiding light because he always had a special courage to dream, plan and dare. Robert's strengths were so much more than muscle! He found the silver lining no matter how dark the sky was and built many rainbows throughout his 86 years! He really enjoyed people and really believed in them! In his later years he looked at our world and joined the effort to make it better. Robert loved knowledge and in gaining knowledge he so embraced life in a victorious manner. Robert inspired hope and the promise it holds and he created so many new dreams to believe in that grew brighter and continued to do so as each new day unfolded. He has left a powerful impact to all his beliefs and causes that touched his soul. On a lighter note, whenever you see a little chipmunk, just take a moment and smile because Robert had a real soft spot for them and so enjoyed feeding them nuts in his backyard! Though his voice is now quiet his spirit will echo on in our hearts with love and the legacies he left. We feel thankful and blessed, proud and lucky to have loved and known Robert O. Schlytter. "The Thinker" has left the world far much better for having lived in it!!!!!
