Robert (Bob) Lawrence Schiro
Passed away early Friday, November 10, after a short battle with Leukemia. Born May 17, 1954, Bob was the second son of Anthony and Dorothy Schiro. As one of seven boys, Bob was no stranger to finding trouble and rough housing, and according to Bob, he was often the victor. Bob had fond memories of growing up in Shorewood, hanging out with friends and family at Marc’s Big Boy as a young adult, his annual duck and deer hunting trips, sharing his famous spaghetti and meatballs and classic cheesecake, and ultimately raising his family in the north shore.
In 1985, at age 31, Bob met Meg Jassoy and her two daughters Elizabeth and Maggie, affectionately referred to as Poodle. After several years together, Bob and Meg married on September 29, 1989. Bob loved family life and was the fun dad, letting young Maggie drive his truck down the road and sneaking both the girls many treats. On April 16, 1997, they welcomed a son, James (Jimmy). As a family of five, Bob, Meg, Elizabeth, Maggie, and Jimmy made many memories: annual summer trips to Wisconsin Dells, Spring breaks to Florida, summer Brewer Games, fishing and boat rides, robust holiday traditions, and Bob’s personal favorite, his Fourth of July firework show.
Bob’s world was lit on fire May 7, 2012, when his first grandchild Emma was born. And then came Charlie and Maddy. Having always loved babies and children, and the candy aisle, Bob was meant more than anything to be a grandpa. Bubpa hosted many tea parties, played with dolls, chatted nonsense, was always the first in the pool, attended many sporting events and of course made sure they had plenty of trips to the ice cream store and candy shop; rules were not meant for Bob or his grandkids. He loved spending time with them any way he could, often begging to babysit just to hang out with his favorite little people.
In 2016 Bob was forced into early retirement due to surgery complications leaving him disabled. While devastating, Bob worked through it with the help of family, and his favorite four-legged friend Ollie. Bob persevered through many years of pain and therapy to be there for his family, continuing to take his annual hunting trips with his son, Jimmy, nephew, Michael Jr., and brother, Michael Sr. This time was so important to Bob, as he always looked forward to these trips and came home with wild stories.
Bob is survived by his wife Meg, daughters Elizabeth (Jacob) Stein, Maggie Aliota and son, Jimmy (Emily) Schiro, along with his three grandchildren (Emma, Charlie and Maddy), brothers, Bill, John (Mary), Tony (Honore), Michael (Chrissy), Tom (Gabriella) Schiro. Brothers and sisters-in-laws Peter (Rosemary) Jassoy, Martha (Dan) Hall, Beth Jassoy, Mary (Tim) Borman, Billy (Madeline) Jassoy, Sarah Reed, Tom (Rose) Jassoy, Jim (Wendy) Jassoy. Further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Dorothy Schiro, in-laws William and Anne Jassoy, brother, Jimmy John Schiro, sister-in-law, Jane Jassoy, and brother-in-law, Tex Reed.
