Schmidt, Robert G. was Born to Eternal Life on November 10, 2012 at the age of 89. He was surrounded by family. Beloved husband of over 65 years to the late Rose (nee Lopac). Loving mother of Bob (Merri), Dennis (Cindy) and Susie (Kevin Schrank) Schmidt. Dearest grandpa to Eric and David, Kia (Eric) and Spencer. Loving brother of Audrey Manz, Lorraine and Dick Schmidt. Dear brother-in-law of Mary Ellen Schmidt. Further survived by dear family friend Sue Derr, other relatives and friends. A decorated veteran of the United States Army, Bob proudly served during WWII and the Korean War era. His batallion fought in the Northern France campaign, the Central Europe Campaign and the Rhineland Campaign. He was a distinguished recepient of the Bronze Star as well as numerous other decorations and citations. Following his 21 year career with the military, he went on to serve 25 years with the US Postal Service. He enjoyed trips to Plum Lake, Las Vegas and Friday Night Fish Fry's, but his greatest joy was spending time with loved ones. Bob will be sadly missed. Visitation in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 4 to 7:30 PM with a Vigil Service to follow. Additional visitation in BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH (4005 W. Oklahoma Ave, Milwaukee) on Thurdsday, November 15, 2012 from 10 to 11 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will celebrated at 11 AM. Entombment with full military honors will be follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family would especially like to thank the staff of Linden Grove, New Berlin for their outstanding care and compassion. Memorials are appreciated to Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) "You will always be loved, remembered and missed."
