Robert Andrew Eide, known affectionately as Bob by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Franklin, Wisconsin. Born on June 14, 1940, in La Crosse, WI, to Elmer and Ruth Eide along with his siblings the late Kay Reiman and Jim (Connie) Eide.
Bob shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Charlene Eide (Nee Bissen). Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children Greg (Jill) Eide, and the late Lisa (Michael) Brazeau. Bob was a proud grandfather to Kirsten (John) Linnemanstons, Nicole (Aaron) Kramer, and Amanda (Curt) Belke and a great-grandfather to Riley, Theo, Everlee, and Arthur.
A graduate of La Crosse Central High School in 1958, Bob went on to excel in his studies in Milwaukee and earning a degree that led to his career as a Tool and Die Designer. His dedication and talent in the field were evident as he was promoted through various titles until his well-deserved retirement. Bob's professional journey was marked by a strong work ethic and a reputation for excellence that won him the respect of his colleagues.
An outdoorsman at heart, he found joy in hunting, fishing, shooting, camping, and playing racquetball and basketball. He had the opportunity to travel to places like Singapore, Japan, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand. He also found satisfaction in fixing things around the house and could fix almost anything.
Above all, Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends. As a former Boy Scout himself, he also assisted Greg’s Boy Scout troop. He enjoyed family camping trips, many including extended family and friends. Yearly trips to Bluemound State Park and Prairie du Chain are among many fun memories. Bob cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. They have fond memories of wheelbarrow rides and building leaf houses with him. He was the life of the party and had fun with all of his nieces and nephews as well as the rest of his family at gatherings.
We take comfort in knowing that Bob lived a life full of purpose, surrounded by those he loved and who loved him in return. We are thankful for the loving care he received at Elizabeth’s Residence. He will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace, Bob
