Rita Martha Rodriguez (nee Schimming) was born September 11, 1941 and met her Lord & Savior on February 14, 2025 at the age of 83.
Proud and loving mother of Brett (Stacy) Rodriguez. Proud, doting and loving Oma to Brooke & Chloe. Proud and loving Tante Rita to Kurt, Peter (Debbie) and Tony (Tammy) Lauf and their families. Further survived by cousins (both in the US and Germany) and friends. Predeceased by her parents William and Frieda Schimming and her sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and Leo Lauf.
Born and raised in South Milwaukee, WI. Rita was proud to serve her country in the Women's Army Corps from 1959-1962 and attained the rank of SP5 (equivalent to Sergeant). Rita traveled extensively in Europe during her military service in Paris, France and while serving as a bilingual secretary for General Motors in Augsburg, Germany. She also visited 40 of the 50 states during her lifetime.
Dedicated and active member for most of her life of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in South Milwaukee having served on the church board, endowment committee and pastor search committee; enjoyed being liturgist during Sunday worship and ushering.
Brett was a constant source of pride and love for Rita and his wife, Stacy, was the best daughter-in-law anyone could wish for. Rita enjoyed being with her family (especially Brooke and Chloe), music (especially Elvis Presley and the Three Tenors), reading, exercising, and life. She was an Executive Secretary for 23 of her 26 years at Milwaukee Cylinder in Cudahy and for 7 years at Mark Carstensen Construction in Franklin.
Memorial Gathering at Max Sass Funeral Home, Greenridge Chapel, on Friday February 21, 2025 from 10 AM to 12 PM. Funeral service at 12 PM followed by Military honors. Private Entombment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
