Rita M Lawyer

Rita M. Lawyer, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the age of 93. She was born on August 19, 1928, in Wheeling, West Virginia as the third child of Walter and Elizabeth (Fischer) Brown. She married her high-school sweetheart John (Jack) Lawyer on September 10, 1949. They lived in Wheeling, Pittsburgh, Michigan City, IN with a final move together to Greendale in 1972. Jack passed away unexpectedly in 1998. Rita moved to Franklin in 2001 where she remained until 2021 when she moved to an assisted living facility. Rita led an active life - playing bridge, golfing, knitting, sewing, traveling and watching sporting events on tv - especially the Bucks, Packers, Badgers and golf. In her younger days she volunteered at church and delivered Meals on Wheels. Rita continued this love of watching sports until the end. Her Greendale group of friends shared many fun times together and were very special to her as was her family. Rita and Jack raised four children: Jill Aughey (David) of Saint Paul, MN; Tom Lawyer (Wei) of Milwaukee; Jane Robinson (Jim) of Genesee and John Lawyer (Cheryl) of Panama City Beach, FL. Rita is survived by her grandchildren Anders & Jack Aughey (Kelsey Brunner); Ian (Alissa), Colin (Emma) & Kelly Robinson (Chase Johnson); Jordan Lawyer & Brandi (Mike) Pawlowicz. She is further survived by great-grandchildren James “Jimmy” Thomas Robinson and Ryen Jane Robinson. Preceded in death by her granddaughters Kelvie and Rachel Aughey, siblings Rodger and Gladys. In accordance with Rita’s wishes no services will be held. Interment will be with her husband at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
