Richard R. Eddy, 87, passed away on November 11, 2015 at Elizabeth Residence in Franklin. Born November 8, 1928 in Milwaukee to Elmer and Norma Eddy, Dick was raised in Greendale and graduated in 1947 from West Milwaukee High School. Dick was a paratrooper in the US Army from 1951 to 1953. He enjoyed motorcycles, scuba diving, big band music and played standup bass, dancing, wood working and building model airplanes. He met Maxine (Breitzman) while attending school in Greendale and married the love of his life on May 23, 1953. They moved to their life long home in Franklin in 1956 where they raised sons Robert and David. Dick called himself a millwright, loved working with tools and machines and spent most of his working life and leisure time pursuing this passion. He spent most of his career as an install/sales/service technician with FMC Corp. He retired in 1986. Dick loved having a project to do and felt that if you couldn't do it yourself, it didn't need to get done. He loved to help others and volunteering was a big part of his life. Dick was a charter member and past President of the Franklin Lions Club where he enjoyed umpiring Lions Little League games, building Lions/Legend Park, parking cars and cooking chicken at the Labor Day Fair and other community service projects. However, he was not a fan of selling fruit cakes! He was a 25 year member of the Alpine Valley Ski Patrol and loved skiing with his family and friends. He was an active member or the Rainbow Flying Club. Camping with family and friends was a life-long passion that evolved from a canvas tent with no floor and two small children in the 60's, to a really cool Starcraft pop-up in the '70's, to a series of motor homes including "Winnie" and "Georgie" that he and Maxine used to travel throughout the country and drove to Florida in the winter during retirement. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Elizabeth Residence for their loving care and concern. Survived by Maxine, Robert (Cindy), David (Joan), grandchildren Elizabeth, Emily, Max and Jamie and sister Barbara. Preceded in death by parents Elmer and Norma, brother Donald. A Memorial Visitation will be held at ST. ALPHONSUS CHURCH (6060 W. Loomis Rd., Greendale, WI) on Saturday from 9:30 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11 AM. Private Interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Franklin Lions Club.
