Richard F. Stepke

January 10, 1915 — March 5, 2006

Richard F. Stepke Of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2006, at the age of 91. Dick, as he was called, had been the General Manager of one of Milwaukee’s most successful full service appliance stores, South Side Sales, until his retirement in 1982. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, a Master Sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge in 1945, he served his country for more than 3 years in the Pacific Theatre in New Guinea and the Philippines. Dick is survived by the love of his life, wife and best friend of nearly 65 years, Esther (nee Papier). He is also survived by his daughter, Jane (Al) Knaak of Oak Creek, whose love and care made his final days more comfortable, and his son, Russ (Sandy), of Chicago. Another son, Rick, preceded him in death. His sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (nee Stepke) and Vernon Barg of Franklin survive him. He is also survived by grandsons Dr. Chad (Alyson) Stepke, Bret Stepke, Bradley Knaak, Ryan (Jessica) Knaak, Rick Knaak, all of Milwaukee, and granddaughter’s Carrie (Patrick) Dlugosch of Minneapolis, Jaime (Joe) Nuss and Kelly Stepke, both of Oak Creek. He was preceded in death by grandson, Drew Stepke. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Knaak, Jack and Lily Stepke, Bailey, Jeremy and Lainey Nuss, and Allyssa Stepke. He is also survived by cousin Rita Antoniewicz who was always there to lend a helping hand. Funeral Thursday, March 9, 2006, 10:15am from the Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home to ST. ROMAN CHURCH, 1910 W. Bolivar Ave. for Mass at 10:45am. Entombment St. Adalbert Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, 8am to 10:15am at the Funeral Home.
