Nowakowski, Richard B. Born into Eternal Life on October 28, 2007 at the age of 86. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (nee Foren). Loving father of Janet (Bob) Luberda, Kenneth (Lisa), Linda (the late Nick) Winter, Louise (Rob) Esworthy, Joanne (Tom) Clark, Kathleen (David) Markwiese, and Paul (Laura). Loving grandfather of Genevieve, Sarah, Douglas, Gregory, Samuel, Anna, Meredyth, Tessa, Rachel, Emily, John, Jaclyn, Madeline, Abigail, Samantha, and Margaret. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Anton and Michalina, brothers Bernard, John, and Stanley and sisters Carol, Florence, Wanda, and Jane. Further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and associates. Richard was a WW II Army veteran in the European theater. He graduated from Marquette University in 1942 and from Marquette University Law School in 1948. He was a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, a Wisconsin State Assemblyman from 1953 to 1957, and a City of Milwaukee Alderman from 1950 to 1952 and again from 1956 to 1968. Richard was appointed to the Mecca Board in 1973, a member of the Milwaukee Harbor Commission from 1969 to 1977, appointed to the Milwaukee County Planning Commission in 1976 and appointed to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. Richard served as a Lobbyist for the Wisconsin Railroad Association and was appointed as chairman of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development in 1968 Richard was a member of the Milwaukee Society of the Polish National Alliance Legion 2519, the International Mushroom Pickers Society, George Washington Post #2, PRCUA, past president and current director of the St. Joseph Foundation (Pal Joey award winner in 1986), an active member of St. Alexander Catholic Church, and a member of the Southside Business Association. Richard was a loving and devoted husband and father to whom family was the most important part of his life. He was also an avid Marquette basketball fan and bird lover. Richard loved Milwaukee and dedicated his public service to the city. As a son of immigrants, he celebrated his Polish heritage, but was very proud to be an American. Visitation at the Max A. Sass & Sons Greenridge Chapel on Thursday November 1st from 4 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM rosary service. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday November 2nd at 10 AM at St. Alexander Catholic Church, 1554 W. Holt Ave. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment to follow at St. Adalbert cemetery.
