Phyliss was born on August 30, 1929 to Walter Meyer and Gertrude Allorie in Merrill, Wisconsin. In the early 1940's the family moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met and married Duane L. Hook on January 28, 1946. To this union thirteen children were born. In September of 1966 Duane and Phyliss moved their family to Corydon, Iowa. In addition to raising the family, Phyliss worked for many years at Shivvers Manufacturing in Corydon. That marriage ended in divorce. In the mid 1980's Phyliss moved back to Wisconsin and married Adolph Froehlich. They lived in Wisconsin and Arkansas. Upon Adolphs' passing away in 1996, Phyliss returned to Corydon to be near many of her children. Phyliss is survived by her children: Dennis D. (Dottie) Hook of Corydon, IA; Deanna L. Luedtke of Albert Lea, MN; Dea J. (Gene) Dent of Broken Arrow, OK; Dixie L. (Steve) Benner of Osawatomie, KS; David W. (Becky) Hook of Corydon, IA; Donald G. (Regina) Hook of Centerville, IA; Darcy D. Johnston of Cleveland, TX; Danette D. (Danny) West of Branson, MO; Donna R. (Mike) Rinehart of Centerville, IA; DaNiel M. (Tom) Penfield of Villisca, IA; and Darrin H. (Jill) Hook of Lee's Summit, MO. In addition, she is survived by twenty five (25) grandchildren and thirty six (36) great-grandchildren and one brother, Glenn D. (Marilyn) Meyer of Muskego, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews. Phyliss's wishes are to be interred with Adolph in Big Bend, Wisconsin. A service was held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Randolphs Funeral Home in Corydon, IA. Afterward she was transported to Wisconsin where a second service was held in Muskego on Monday, September 26, 2011 prior to interment. Musical selections were: "Whispering Hope", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Just a Closer Walk With Thee", and her all-time favorite song, "For The Good Times" by Ray Price. Pallbearers were Darcy Johnston, Gene Dent, Steve Benner, Danny West, Mike Rinehart, and Tom Penfield. In Phyliss's memory, please plant a red rose bush, a blue spruce tree or just read a good love story. In October 2009 Phyliss moved to the Corydon Nursing Home where she enjoyed reading, watching television and playing bingo.
