Peter M. Gould, age 80, a cherished soul whose laughter filled the hearts of those around him, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, in Greendale, surrounded by loved ones. Born on December 9, 1944, in New Jersey. Peter’s passing followed a courageous four-month battle with cancer, demonstrating the strength and resilience he was known for.
He is preceded in death by his father, George Gould; his mother, Florence (Hely) Gould; and his brother, Thomas Gould. Bill Osborne, lifelong friend, who shared countless memories with Peter.
Peter's legacy lives on through the children of his dear friends, the late David and Brenda Ploetz: Melissa Huston (Zach), Amanda Ploetz, and Jonathan Ploetz. Additionally, he leaves behind a dear friend, Sue Bailey from Warminster, PA, who was a dedicated presence in his life.
Peter proudly served in the United States Navy for six years, an experience that led him on a journey to see the world and stationed him in the French Rivera and Italy. His military service was marked by pride and a sense of adventure, which influenced his outlook on life.
Peter embraced his role as the beloved "Peter the Greeter" at Home Depot, where he shared his radiant spirit with everyone who walked through the doors. His warmth and humor earned him the RVP Recognition Award, a testament to his unwavering commitment to serving others. Known for his great sense of humor, Peter had a remarkable ability to tell jokes that brought joy and laughter, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and cheer around him.
Peter took great pride in his accomplishments, particularly the purchase of a boat named "Betty R," which he bought with a friend. Although the boat's engine proved to be non-operational, they enjoyed being docked at the marina. Eventually, Peter upgraded to a working houseboat, further enriching his love for the water.
Peter held a fascination for treasures both new and old, finding immense joy in rummaging through 7 Mile Fair and the meticulous displays of Estate Sales, always hoping to uncover hidden gems. His personal sanctuary included his treasured at-home Pepsi vending machine, a quirky testament to his spirit. An avid baseball fan, Peter never missed a game cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers, demonstrating his loyalty to his favorite team throughout the years.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Harbour Village and Gentiva Hospice for their unparalleled level of service, especially Collen and Tasha, whose care and compassion brought comfort during Peter's final days.
Peter will be greatly missed and eternally remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of laughter, infectious sense of humor, and the warmth of his spirit will live on in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Water Street Brewery Oak Creek, located at 140 W Town Square Way, Oak Creek, WI 53154.
