Patricia G. Young, a beacon of faith and love, was called home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 27, 2023 at the age of 80. She was reunited with Roger, her beloved husband. Born on March 17, 1943, Patricia's life was characterized by her unwavering devotion to her family, her church, and her community.
A lifelong member of the Union Grove community, Patricia was the beloved wife of the late Roger Young, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage filled with mutual respect and affection. She was a loving mother, who now joins her late daughter Wendella (Lynn) Cook in eternal rest. Her legacy of love continues through her children, Troy Light, Beth (Chris) Miller, and Mark (Amber) Young, who will forever cherish the memories and life lessons she imparted.
Patricia's warmth extended to her role as a cherished grandma. She was preceded in death by her grandson Christopher Light but is remembered with fondness by her grandchildren, Paige Culbert, Zachary Light, Samantha Light, Kalyn Culbert, Owen Young, Colin Young, and Gavin Young. Each of them holds dear the special moments spent in their grandma's nurturing presence. Her sister, the late Jannette Winslow, was also preceded in death by Patricia. She is survived by a host of other relatives, friends, and her Southside Church of Christ family, all of whom felt the touch of her kind and thoughtful nature.
After graduating from Granville High School in 1961, Patricia's life was marked by service and involvement. Her commitment to her faith was evident as she taught bible school for 12 years, shaping the spiritual lives of countless children with her gentle guidance and wisdom. Her active participation in her church community was a cornerstone of her life, demonstrating her dedication to living out her faith in practical ways.
Patricia's sense of civic duty was also reflected in her membership with the Lioness Club in Union Grove, where she worked alongside fellow members to better her community. Her efforts in the club were just one of the many ways she contributed to the lives of those around her.
Among Patricia's many talents, her love for baking stood out. Friends and family often found comfort in the delicious treats she lovingly prepared, and her kitchen was a hub of warmth and delightful aromas. But above all, Patricia's greatest joy was taking care of her family. Her home was the heart of celebrations, especially Thanksgiving, her favorite holiday, when everyone gathered around her table to share in gratitude and fellowship.
Patricia's life was a testament to the words that best describe her: faith-filled, loving, and thoughtful. These attributes were the foundation upon which she built her life and the legacy she leaves behind. Her unwavering support, her ability to listen and guide, and her endless capacity for love will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
As we say farewell to Patricia G. Young, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on through the lives she touched and the family she adored. She set an example of grace and kindness that will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Her memory will be a blessing to all, and her life's story a cherished chapter in the family history.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Patricia G. Young will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her influence will be felt for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Patricia, until we meet again.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at Southside Church of Christ (1933 W. Grange Ave., Milwaukee) on Saturday February 3 at 2PM. Following the service, please stay and join the family for further fellowship and a light reception.
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
