Darlene Wissbroecker, a spirited, loving, and youthful woman, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on February 14, 1940, in Wisconsin, Darlene was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many.
Darlene was a proud graduate of cosmetology school and worked as a barber before transitioning to a long and fulfilling career as a custodian with the West Allis School District. She was a hardworking and dedicated employee who took pride in her work and made lasting connections with her colleagues and the students she encountered.
A true "girly girl," Darlene had a passion for clothes, makeup, and jewelry and loved making herself and others look and feel their best. Her vibrant spirit and love for life were infectious, and she was always the life of the party. Darlene believed in God and was a free-spirited soul who embraced life's challenges with grace and resilience.
Darlene was a beloved mother to Annette Young, Cynthia Frahm, Curtis Frahm, and Scott (Roxanne) Frahm. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Marion Schontube, her son Neal Frahm, and her infant son Michael. Darlene was a cherished grandmother to Kristina (David) Scheiding-Baker, Christopher Scheiding, Nichole (Aaron) Scheiding-Cohen, Heidi and Jason Frahm (twins), Brian (Krystal) Young, and April Young. She was also a dear sister to Donna Szczesny, Sandra Jones, Richard Christensen and the late Eloise.
Throughout her life, Darlene had a special place in her heart for animals and cared for numerous birds, dogs, and cats. She shared her love for animals with her family and friends and taught her grandchildren the value of compassion and kindness towards all creatures. Darlene was also an avid swimmer and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to swim and spending time by the pool.
Darlene's love for adventure and travel led her to embark on memorable cruises and trips. She relished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with those she loved.
Despite struggling with mental illness, Darlene's life was a testament to her strength and resilience. She faced her challenges head-on, always doing the best she could for herself and her family. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As we remember Darlene Wissbroecker, we celebrate her life, her spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. She will be dearly missed, but her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 1 PM.
