"Millie"

October 15, 1932 — January 13, 2022

Mildred F. Mueller, 89, passed peacefully on January 13, 2022 into the arms of the Lord. Mildred joined her beloved husband, Walter along with many family members and friends in the Kingdom of Heaven. Mildred is survived by children Glen (Marsha) Morris, Barbara (Gary) Robertson and Dawn (Scott Dorgay) Finger along with 7 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Her newest Great- Grandson, Draven Michael arriving to this Earth just 2 days after her passing. Millie is also survived by her sister Dolores Von Bank and sister in law, Joan Schmidt along with many nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, August and Mary Schmidt, sister Marion Owen and brothers Edward Zinda and recently Lawrence Schmidt. Mildred was born in Milwaukee in 1932 to August and Mary Schmidt following the Great Depression. Mildred shared many stories of her Father’s early passing and her Mother being the sole Caregiver to her family of 5 children, always making “ends meet”. Millie often spoke of her and sisters growing up making their own “bobby sox” to sharing each other’s clothing and even wedding dresses. She spoke of the tough times financially but were also very happy times with her wonderful family. Millie loved going to school, dances and especially the Eagle’s Ballroom. Millie worked at Allen Bradley after graduating from high school where she met her husband, Wally in the late 50’s. They were amazing dancers and have memories of them dancing cheek to cheek. They made a home and life in the new suburban area of St. Francis in 1963. Millie started to work in her beloved community of St. Francis as a ‘Lunch lady”, sat on the PTA board and became “Ma or Mother Millie” to every child and teenager she met. Millie was the “go to” Mom that our friends would gather at our home. Millie provided the safe place for kids to come over swimming or spend a night or even a month if a friend of ours needed to. Millie loved to play cards and all games with her family and friends along with a Pabst beer. After raising her children, Millie discovered fun times of going gambling. Her husband, Wally jokingly dubbed her “the 1 arm Bandit” of slot machines. Millie then started to travel to Las Vegas with the ladies of the family and friends. Her final job was working as a Casino Bus Hostess (with the Mostess) and traveling to various casinos and making an abundance of friends along the way. Millie definitely lived life to the fullest and was satisfied that she did so. Millie was at peace knowing and was ready to be with her husband, family and friends. Millie had special bonds for the many that cared for her in final years including her grandchildren, nurses and neighbors. Until we meet again our Dearest Mother Millie – Fly Me to the Moon! Private burial to be held due to Covid.
