Michael J. Hoffmann Mike, affectionately called Mickey, died peacefully on January 8 at the age of 79. A loving husband to Kitty (nee Neitzke) for 54 years, and father to Sarah Hoffmann (Michael Kroeker), Becky Hoffmann (Josh Greenheck), and Dave (Vicki) Hoffmann, he was also “Papa” to Ava, Oliver, and Frankie. He is further survived by his sister Sandy Pelkowski (Geoff), his nieces Wendy Doolan (Patrick) and Lynn Blazek (Jack), his brothers-in-law Will and Mike Neitzke, and nephew Ben Neitzke and niece Abby Neitzke as well as many more beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Ruth Hoffmann (nee Ponto). He was quick to flash his smile and tell a joke, had an immensely infectious laugh, and loved socializing with friends and family. He delighted in spending time with his three small grandchildren. His decades-long career began within the audio-visual department at St. Mary’s, and ended as a Systems Analyst with Ascension, with many different roles in different departments along the way. Strong friendships emerged from these work years that led to monthly social gatherings after retirement. His life-long love of music took hold playing trombone and serving as drum major at Greenfield High School and then in competition with Lake Band as a youth. As an adult, he was an avid follower of drum corps and attended competitions across the country. He volunteered to mix sound for the performing group Accompany of Kids. His desire to share new and favorite music was irrepressible - he recorded more Austin City Limits than one person could ever possibly watch, and he would be tickled if you went and listened to Here Come The Mummies. His interest in cars began as a teenager hanging out at the neighborhood gas station and led to him scraping together enough money to purchase his first car. Ultimately this turned into a passion for classic and sports cars that brought him to cross paths with many who shared his joy. Memorial gathering will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1pm-4pm at Max A. Sass & Sons - Greenfield Chapel (4747 S. 60th St in Greenfield, WI). He would like many of you to know that he took back most of the bad things he said about you.
