Michelle Marie Bremmer Rawski aged 65, it was a cool spring day with Crocus and Forsythia blooming and trees budding when Michelle embarked on her final adventure March 16, 2024,
She was the loving mother to Rebecca (Joel) Wakefield and took immense joy in being the world's best grandmother to Elizabeth and Lilah Wakefield. Her caring nature extended to her siblings, Michael Bremmer, Cheri (Larry) Gadzalinski, and Jodie Bobier, and she was a cherished aunt to Matthew (Kateri) Gadzalinski, Janell (Matt) Larson, and Jordan Bobier. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Bremmer and Patricia Urbanski, her grandparents, Henry and Lilah Ryan, and her sisters, Pamela, and Julie. Michelle's memory will be forever celebrated by her family and all who knew her.
Michelle lived her life like a rare artifact she might have uncovered during one of her many antique hunting adventures—unique, cherished, and with a story behind every smile. Her laughter could be found echoing through rummage sales and thrift stores as she hunted for one-of-a-kind items that seemed to whisper her name. She found joy in every dusty corner, and her crowning achievement was a Capodimonte porcelain flower bouquet, heavier than she was.
A gardener with a green thumb, there wasn't a flower Michelle didn't love. Her garden was a testament to her philosophy "more is more," always buying more flowers than she had pots for. Every plant she touched seemed to understand they were part of a grander scheme of beauty in Michelle's world.
An animal lover through and through, Michelle's beloved dog Peepers and her cat Sunshine were her constant companions who preceded her.
Lake Michigan held a special place in her heart, with its sandy shores and treasure trove of heart-shaped stones and beach glass, which she would endlessly explore with her granddaughters Elle and Lil. She was a beachcomber, with each piece telling a story, each day with them a chapter in her book of love.
As Tutu, Michelle was exemplary. Elle and Lil were her ultimate joy, and she was theirs. A grandmother always ready for a babysitting gig, she would spoil them rotten, never making an excuse for the countless treasures her girls would bring home. Life with Tutu meant endless adventure and laughter, complete with tickle trains and shared moments of joy.
Michelle's travels carried her to landscapes as lush and diverse as her interests—from the volcanic serenity of Hawaii to the wandering the historic cobbled streets of Ireland and admiring the artistry and the romantic boulevards of Paris. Traveling was another of Michelle's passions, with Hawaii holding the distinction of being her personal paradise.
Professionally, Michelle dedicated over 20 years to the medical department of Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, where she loved her job, especially documenting the newborn baby births.
As we say our goodbyes to Michelle, let's remember that the echo of her laughter will never fade. It's in every antique that tells a story, in every plant that sprouts from the earth, in every paw print on the beach, and in every sparkle of beach glass that catches the sun just right. It's in the laughter of her granddaughters, the tales of her siblings, and the legacy of her love.
Michelle approached life where comfort was key, laughter was mandatory, and love was always the finest accessory. Her creativity was boundless, her love immense, and her sense of humor infectious. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold with fondness, and her laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved her.
A private service will be held to honor the extraordinary life of Michelle Bremmer. Her spirit continues in the hearts of those she loved and the lives she brightened. While the curtain may have closed on her time with us, her love will continue to be the warm embrace we feel with every breeze off Lake Michigan.
Private services to be held.
