Meribeth Waldrop Nee Zielke

December 12, 1943 – March 17, 2025

Meribeth Waldrop, a beloved member of both the Scottish and German communities in Milwaukee, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 12, 1943, in Milwaukee, WI, Meribeth lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and a deep appreciation for culture and tradition.

Raised Lutheran, Meribeth was the epitome of grace and caring for others. Her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many around the world through her travels related to performing and simply appreciating the beauty this life offers. Always carrying herself with warmth, compassion, and an unwavering spirit of service to all, her genuine smile was a window to the joy she had for life.

Her love for Scottish heritage led her to become a talented bagpiper with the Milwaukee Highlanders Pipe Band in early 1963 before founding the Caledonian Scottish Dance Group in 1965, where she shared her enthusiasm for traditional Scottish dance for decades. She was equally devoted to the German community, also volunteering tirelessly for other cultural groups and events, including the Pomeranian Club, Shamrock Club Irish Dancers, Holiday Folk Fair, and Milwaukee’s own German Fest..

Meribeth’s legacy of love, faith, and community will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

A celebration of her life will be held at Max Saas on March 29th from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Caledonian Scottish Dance group.
