Mattie Violet Olsen Mattie Violet Olsen, 86, of Stephenson Mi passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Mattie was born in Flint, MI on August 6, 1935, one of 12 children born to Frank and Ellen LeBarr Howell. Mattie was a wonderful Mom raising five children; Deborah, Barbara, Mark, Don and Melissa. Mattie graduated from Stephenson High School and studied at Mott Community College. She worked as a child care assistant at the Neighborhood Family Centers (Menominee & Stephenson) and volunteered at Precious Blood Church. Mattie loved her laptop, playing games, Facebook, watching her son's remote webcams and traveling the world via Google Streetview. She loved her daily Skype calls with her children, reading mystery novels, crocheting and her many travels and camping adventures with her granddaughter, Brittany. Mattie is survived by her children, Deb (Rick) Hoeffler, Mark (Donna) Olsen, Don (Tina) Olsen, Melissa (Ahren) Boettger; grandchildren Brittany Hoeffler, Peter (Nina) Dellisse, Paul (Cassendra) Stacho, Frieda Stacho, Brandon Olsen, Anastasia Olsen, Gavrayelle Olsen, and 7 great-grandchildren, her sisters, Ellen Hart and Edna Alecci, and dear friend, Joyce Tirpak. She was preceeded in death by her daughter, Barbara Olsen; grandchildren, Amanda Olsen and Justin Hoeffler; daughter-in-law, Doreen Olsen and 9 brothers and sisters. A memorial service is planned for this summer.
