Mary Jean Flegel, age 72 passed away unexpectedly in her home in West Allis, Wisconsin, on September 27, 2024. Born on October 15, 1951, in Green Bay to Joseph and Josephine (Ratajczak) Flegel, Mary's gracious spirit and nurturing disposition were evident from her early years. She dedicated her life to the service of others, initially as a compassionate Registered Nurse—a career she embarked upon after graduating from Silver Lake College.
Mary's caring nature led her to work as a Registered Nurse and devoted caretaker for her mother and two aunts, Hattie and Frances. Her love for animals and the tranquillity of farm life was a testament to her gentle soul and hard-working dedication. During a mid-life shift, Mary demonstrated her versatility of helping others by transitioning to a career in insurance sales.
Her brother Joseph Flegel and his wife Bonnie, her nephews Weston (Amy) Flegel and Lucas (special friend Nicole) Flegel, and great-nephews Jayden, Arizona, and Trey Flegel, remain to honor her memory and continue her legacy of kindness.
Mary's life, marked by her thoughtful contributions and caring relationships, will be celebrated in a service to be scheduled at a future date.
