Mary Jane Darnieder (nee Staab) was Born to Eternal Life on October 12, 2023 at the age of 95 years.
Preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Eugene Darnieder, Mary Jane is survived by her three children, Mary Beth Piehl (Steven), Diane Meyer (David), and James Darnieder (Patricia).
Since her husband's passing in 1985, Mary Jane surrounded herself with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbors, her family of friends from Blessed Sacrament Church, and the beautiful gardens and plants around her home. She was a long time volunteer at Blessed Sacrament, serving as a Parish Trustee, President of the parish's Seniors organization and was also involved in many of the parish's groups and committees. She loved reading the newspaper and never hesitated to clip and share articles her children might enjoy.
Mary Jane's Catholic faith was a huge part of her life. Her favorite seat in her kitchen had a view of the Virgin Mary Shrine in her back yard, and her life at home included daily prayers and frequent rosaries. She loved attending Mass at Blessed Sacrament and her visits to the Fatima Marian Shrine on 68th Street. She inspired those around her to be better Christians and to be proud of their faith.
Mary Jane loved sewing and continued to do so until her passing. She made the wedding dresses of both Mary Beth and Diane and loved making outfits for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She happily handled her family's request to "stitch this up" or mend a favorite clothing item. She even taught some of her grandchildren how to sew.
She loved to bake as well. She had her favorite recipes, but never hesitated to try something new. Mary Jane was always the one to bring a dessert to family gatherings.
Mary Jane is a beloved grandmother to Kimberly (Kyle), Jonathan (Jennifer), Joseph (Jennifer), Melissa (Fiancee- Christopher), Erin (Christopher), Nicholas and Andrew and great grandmother to Quinn, Gabriella, Madeline, Harlow, Hadley, Liliana, Liam, Charlotte, Sophia, Ava, and Nora.
Mary Jane graduated from Pulaski High School and attended Marquette University.
